2018 Road Trip Including America’s Most Surreal Destinations

The amazing natural wonders of the world is on everyone’s bucket list when it comes to travelling, yet the United States offers more than enough surreal places to keep your eyes feasting on the most incredible places for a very long time.

So, get your flights booked now to California, Alaska, Arizona, Carolina, Nevada, Wyoming, Florida, Georgia, Texas and Oregon, for a start. With so many wonderful places to visit the first stop will completely depend on personal preference, on my list the first stop-over is in Nevada.

Nevada: Fly Geyser

The fly geyser in Nevada was created during drilling done in search of finding geothermal energy sources back in 1964. Minerals surfaced from the drilling hole and formed this magnificently odd formation now known as the fly geyser. It is situated on a private property although it is visible from the road.

Texas: Hamilton Pool Preserve

A popular summertime hangout just outside Austin in Texas is the natural pool that now is in the place of an underground river that existed before erosion caused the dome to collapse.

New York: Finger Lakes State Park – Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins Glen State Park is a gem hidden within the Finger Lakes State Park of New York. It is famed for the 400-foot-deep gorse offering scenic views and a breath-taking waterfall. It is possible to enjoy this magnificent scene during a day visitor as an overnight camper. There are several activities offered including picnic spots, campsites for trailers or tents and apart from fishing visitors can relax in an Olympic size swimming pool.

California: Glass Beach – Fort Bragg

In the 1900s the locals would throw their household garbage and all sorts of things over the cliffs onto the sandy beaches below, decades later what the Pacific Ocean didn’t remove is now pottery and glass shape and smoothed by many years of erosion.

Florida: Dry Tortugas National Park

Many would find it hard to believe that there is something much cooler beside the Key West fun, it is about 70 miles, according to estimations west lies the Dry Tortugas National Park. This is where an unfurnished fortress called Fort Jefferson can be found, the building process started in 1847, and now the place remains secluded from the outside world. It is only accessible by seaplane or boat and offers an amazing opportunity to unplug from the world.

Utah: Bonneville Salt Flats

Its probably the flattest place on earth, Bonneville Salt Flats was covered by a prehistoric lake until 14,500 years ago and is now where speed records are made by racers during mid-August. It gets up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in summer, and after some rain, it is said that the whole area turns into a giant mirror. It reminds me of the next place on my list which is the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, a snow-white desert, what could be more awesome?

The Five Cities in the US you must travel to

The Five Cities in the US you must travel to

  1. New York City, New York

New York City, New York

New York is one of the top places to visit in the United States, even if you live there. A storied city where generations of immigrants passed through Ellis Island, NYC offers so much more to the visitor than just the Statue of Liberty. A testament to those who lost their lives, the 9/11 memorial stands in the place of one of the fallen twin towers. A calming waterfall, it can distract you from the bustle of the city around you. If you spin around, you can see the concrete jungle around you, with some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world.

New York offers so much more than monuments. New York has one of the most famous cultural, artistic lives of the world. Broadway is one of the most famous places to see musicals, and rightfully so. From the shows of Wicked, Mamma Mia, Hamilton, and The Lion King, there is always something to see on Broadway. There is no chance that you’ll run out of things to do in NYC. From the hotels to stay in, Central Park to walk through, and (in the winter) Rockefeller Center to ice skate through. New York needs to be at the top of your must-see list!

  1. Washington, D.C.

Washington

Washington D.C. is home to all the history that has made the united states what it is. The seat of politics in the United states is an interesting place. From the museums to the National Zoo, you can visit the different parts of DC. The Lincoln Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial are all free to visit (as are almost all the museums). You can tour the White House and see where past presidents have lived. The history and culture of D.C. are worth the visit.

  1. San Diego, California

San Diego, California

San Diego, California is the perfect place to visit if beautiful weather is what you’re into. San Diego averages 263 sunny or partly cloudy days a year. San Diego, a coastal city, has a never ending array of beautiful beaches. San Diego is a historical dream. It is considered the birthplace of California. If you’re more into animals than history, you’re in luck: San Diego has the world famous San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, and SeaWorld San Diego. If you’d like to see how to train hawks and falcons, you can go to the Sky Falconry, where licensed trainers show you how to interact with birds of prey. San Diego’s art scene is expansive. The San Diego Art Institute, San Diego Museum of Art, and the Museum of Photogenic Arts are all places you can see the artistic work that comes out of this beautiful city. Finally, San Diego neighborhoods are some of the most diverse, unique neighborhoods, and they’re worthy of visiting. From their LGBT, Italian, or Barrio neighborhoods, there is something for every person to see or learn about.

  1. Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville Tennessee is a burgeoning, beautiful, darling city of the Southern United States. Nashville’s known for one crowning jewel: Country music. The Country music scene in Nashville tops many of the other great music scenes in Austin, New Orleans, New York, and LA. Most venues in Nashville offer live music, where you can see current headliners or up and comers working to do what they enjoy. Nashville has more than just country music. They have music scenes for gospel music, alt-rock, The White Stripes, and even Ke$ha. Nashville isn’t just music. Nashville has an art culture that can almost compare with San Diego’s.  On top of that, Nashville has been voted the #1 friendliest city in America three years running!

  1. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada

Finally, rounding out this list is Las Vegas Nevada. Las Vegas is the city to visit if you love a beautiful, bustling night life. Vegas’ Strip is one of the most famous streets in the entire world. Las Vegas Boulevard is the first thing people think of when they think of Vegas, and there is a reason for that. Vegas is the party, betting, rollercoaster on top of your hotel capital of the world. What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, so go have some fun! (And go see some shows!)
