NYC Lifts Protest Curfew

The Mayor of New York City has lifted the curfew associated with the Black Lives Matter Protests. The curfew was removed after a single night of protests proved not to be violent, with the several days prior all enacting property damage throughout New York City. Many have criticized Bill de Blasio for lifting the curfew so quickly after being initiated. However, the rules weren’t being followed by the overwhelming majority. NYC Civilians were supposed to remain indoors after 8 PM, with these individuals seen protests late into the night.

Marked as the 1st curfew in decades for NYC, measures were meant to remain in effect until June 7th. That timeline was decreased by 48 hours. Political analysts claim that Mayor Bill de Blasio is using the single day of non-violent protests to initiate the 1st Phase of Reopening NYC, which has become an essential matter for the long-time politician. The New York City Economy must return to its prior valuations to sustain continued costs related to curving COVID-19.

Mayor Bill de Blasio took to social media to remark on the Non-Violent Protests. He mentioned that New York City showed their best qualities on that night, allowing for the curfew to end immediately. He remarked that metropolises throughout America should follow by example to what was seen in NYC. His social media sentiments ended with the announcement that the restart initiative would begin on June 7th.

The Good & Bad Cops

Sunday saw minor resistance from law enforcement regarding the lifted curfew measures. Thousands were still protesting on the streets in the early morning, with video evidence showing instances of police brutality towards African Americans. This brutality was prompted during peaceful protests that saw no destruction to local businesses. Law enforcement needs to understand that their racist behaviour & violent altercations create the extreme responses seen over fourteen days in May to June. It should be mentioned that the NYC Law Enforcement claims that officers on-scene were implementing the “Hands-Off Strategy”.

The final protest in Manhattan saw volunteers giving out snacks, awarding first aid kids under the chance that law enforcement became violent, and water bottles to stop tear gas. None of their preparation tactics was required with the overwhelming majority of NYC Police respecting the Hands-Off Approach. It should be noted that a large percentage of cops aren’t systemically racists & don’t immediately resort to attacking African Americans.
